What is a Local Plan?
Basildon Borough Council have recently closed their consultation on the draft Local Plan. This consultation, know as ‘Regulation 18’ is where the Council gather evidence and feedback from Local Stakeholders before formalising their ‘Regulation 19’ Draft of the Local Plan Document itself.
A Local Plan is a long-term framework that helps guide how an area is developed.

It outlines:

-
Where home and community spaces may be built
-
How infrastructure such as roads, schools and healthcare facilities develop
-
How growth can support economic opportunity
-
How communities and environments are protected and supported

Local Plans help ensure development is planned, coordinated and sustainable, rather than happening without long-term structure.

At the Future Basildon Event, we will provide further explanation of this process and how Local People can influence the future of Basildon.
